Advocates for Community Health (ACH) is encouraged by the proposed HHS funding increase for the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
Increased funding from $12.2 million to $20.5 million enables greater transparency and accountability across participating providers, and ensures manufacturers aren’t unduly restricting covered entities.
ACH has advocated for increased funding for this very reason and looks forward to working with bipartisan champions to continue to make sure that this vital savings mechanism, which enables access to healthcare for millions of adults and children, is preserved and strengthened.
At a time when health centers continue to face immense strain from ongoing workforce shortages, vast Medicaid changes, and years of chronic underinvestment, the 340B program is a vital savings stream that makes care possible. Under 340B, safety net providers stretch limited resources to serve underserved and rural communities for care that is under- or not reimbursed. Critically, 340B operates at no cost to taxpayers, and covered entities like health centers are required to invest savings directly back into patient care.
