Advocates for Community Health (ACH) is gravely concerned that the Senate-passed reconciliation bill will undermine community health centers’ ability to serve rural and underserved communities nationwide. As we have said throughout this reconciliation process, health centers have cautioned that this legislation will force them to reduce services, cut hours, or even close their doors altogether.

While ACH is deeply grateful for the inclusion of the $50 billion rural providers fund, it is simply not enough to shore up the rural hospitals, health centers, and other providers who will need relief.

Community health centers are not only a critical component of America’s health care safety net; research has shown again and again that the care they provide is the gold standard, providing quality care to some of our most medically complex communities while saving money for the Medicaid and Medicare programs by helping people avoid more costly care settings like the emergency room.

ACH urges House members to vote no on this legislation.
