In an article from the 340B Report covering the reintroduction of the 340B ACCESS Act, ACH shared that the organization “is broadly supportive of congressional efforts to reform the 340B program, including requiring more transparency and accountability as we advocate to ensure that 340B can remain a viable component of the vital work health centers do in their rural and underserved communities.

“However, ACH is unable to support the 340B ACCESS Act in its current form, as it would significantly reduce health centers’ ability to leverage 340B on behalf of patients. Health centers count on the 340B program, reinvesting every penny of savings into programs and services and reform efforts must not hinder the use of the program as Congress intended—to allow safety-net providers to stretch scarce federal resources and make communities healthier.

“While the 340 ACCESS Act is well-intentioned, it misses the mark. In order for 340B reform legislation to be successful and sustainable, we strongly believe that it must be bipartisan, incorporate multi-stakeholder input and ensure the continued viability of the program for safety net providers like health centers. We look forward to continued engagement with lawmakers as 340B reform conversations continue.”
