WASHINGTON, D.C.—Advocates for Community Health (ACH) and UnitedHealthcare are announcing a call for applications from community health centers for the Community Health Entrepreneur Challenge. In a second round of funding, two community health centers will receive $100,000 each over one year to invest in innovations in technology and effective patient care. ACH membership is a condition of the award, and the application window runs from June 17, 2024, to July 22, 2024.
The Community Health Entrepreneur Challenge presents a unique opportunity for federally qualified health center (FQHC) leaders to drive significant change in their communities. The goal of the challenge is not only to improve patient health outcomes, create greater efficiencies, and achieve long-term savings but also to empower health centers to be the catalysts of this change. The first round of funding, launched in April 2023 as a joint multi-year commitment between ACH and UnitedHealthcare Community & State, has already set the stage for this transformative work.
Since its inception, the Community Health Entrepreneur Challenge Fund has awarded $2.5 million dollars to five transformative projects at Columbia Basin Health Association, Lowell Community Health Center, Mariposa Community Health Center, Morris Heights Health Center, and Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation. These projects, born out of the innovative concepts submitted by ACH member health centers, have targeted improved health outcomes, decreased health disparities, promoted system change, and engaged organizations across multiple sectors, including public, private, government, and community groups.
Grantees will receive national recognition through ACH and UnitedHealthcare platforms. Existing Entrepreneur Challenge grantees are ineligible to apply.
